Angel’s Diary
Angel’s Diary is a project which I developed for an exhibition in an old air-raid shelter. It is composed of a graphic novel and objects that refer to the drawn story. It is narrated in two time dimensions.
The first one leads us into an undefined past to an undetermined place where a war is going on. Angel, a girl who’s parents were arrested, has to hide. Her company is Mr Rabbit, a toy bunny, that in her phantasy comes to life. On their run they meet Hirschmann, Marie and Jean, some quirky companions who build a resistance group. Angel notes everything in her diary. Phantasy and the grim reality are interwoven.
The second time dimension lays in an indefinite present and place where the story of Angel and her companions is rediscovered by two teenagers. The two discover the diary of Angel and start reading. As well they find her old school bag, Hirschmann’s cloth and Mr Rabbit. The Objects connect the two time dimensions.
