Notes of a housewife, 2005

The initiation for this work is based on a coincidental encounter at an exhibition opening with a friend, who’s sons went to football together with my son. We said we should change phone numbers and she produced an old shopping list out of her handbag to write on and mentioned: ”Ah, notes of a housewife”. I couldn’t get this laconic comment out of my mind anymore. On the one hand side we met at this intellectual event to consume culture and exchanged our phone numbers, on the other hand side by that note we were reminded of every day duties of a housewife were the most intellectual challenge is to write a shopping list. As I experienced this feat to jump between my work as an artist and my work as mother and housewife every day, I had the idea to combine both in one artwork and to make the invisible part of my dayly life visible. From that thought a series of very autobiographic artwork emerged.
