The boy who left home, 2008 to 2019

The series ‘The boy who left home’ was inspired by the novels of the Japanese writer Haruki Murakami. I am fascinated by Japanese art and culture which has a big influence on my artistic work. Although I have never been in Japan, Murakami’s narratives are familiar in an odd way. I immerse into the universe of Murakamis stories. Get familiar with the strange, describe with my art what is written in Japanese from the view of a European.

It is not the storyline of the narrations I want to illustrate, but rather the subconscious, the mood and the emotions.
